Luxury Living in San Antonio

As the ninth largest city in the United States and home to five Fortune 500 companies (Valero Energy Corp, Tesoro, USAA, Clear Channel Communications and NuStar Energy), San Antonio’s luxury home market is growing. According to the United Census Bureau, the city is one of the second largest in Texas. The San Antonio economy thrives in the financial, medical and tourism sectors. As top level jobs are created, the need for San Antonio luxury homes increases. From established gated communities to new mansions that are constructed throughout the city, homeowners can choose from many styles and locations. Let’s look at a few of San Antonio’s luxury home communities:

Cordillera Ranch

This is the best known luxury home community in the San Antonio area. Located just 30 miles north of downtown San Antonio, home owners have seven private clubs that offer everything from fishing to tennis to sporting clays. A new Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course provides pristine 18 holes for golfers.

Luxury San Antonio home owners can choose how they want to live—in homes with small lots where neighbors are close by or on large estates that can span 10 acres. No matter what size lot the homeowner chooses, the community offers private, gated resort-style living.

Stone Oak

One of many upscale communities in north central San Antonio, Stone Oak is known for its staunch security measures (many of the communities are gated). You may see some celebrities in this part of the city. “Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and her husband Tony Parker live in the area as does wrestling legend “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Stone Oak is known, as its name implies, for the tree-lined streets and properties. The latest development, Waterford Heights, features large lots and homes—at least 4,500 square feet.

The Dominion

Country music star George Strait makes his home in this master planned community. This area attracts those who love golf. The Dominion Country Club’s 260-acre course is the site of some senior PGA events. Several other golf courses are within a few minutes drive. The Dominion is gated community and security guards are on duty 24 hours a day. The Reserve at the Dominion is one of the latest luxury communities under construction. New lots are still available and homeowners can choose from a variety of home styles.

Alamo Heights

The Alamo is the most famous tourist attraction in San Antonio and Alamo Heights is one of the most exclusive areas. Alamo Heights has its own city council and school district. Residents love the choices of luxury living that ranges from condominiums to mansion-style homes and the sense of community. Alamo Heights is just a short drive away from downtown San Antonio making the area attractive to executives with families.

The home styles in San Antonio range from large ranches to cozy condos in some of the luxury communities. With the variety of communities and home styles, the demand for San Antonio luxury homes is expected to increase.
